School travel

Ealing Council's school travel team is here to help you embed active travel – walking, cycling ans scooting– within your curriculum and community.

From support with achieving TfL Travel for Life accreditation, to improving road safety, to delivery of School Streets, we can work with you to make the school journey safer, healthier and greener.

Support we provide

Our team support schools with the following:

  • TfL Travel for Life programme, guiding you from bronze to gold status
  • workshops for school travel champions to implement the programme and organise activities
  • one-to-one sessions to support all education providers
  • fun days to inspire and celebrate pupils and staff who champion active travel
  • loan of our active travel mascot Terri the Tiger to make your active travel event or campaign even more memorable
  • help to draft or update a school travel plan (STP) to reduce car use and encourage active travel. An STP is often a requirement of planning applications. Guidance and a template is also available here School travel plans | Ealing Council
  • we plan and implement the borough-wide School Street programme, to make drop off and pick up times safer for children.
  • we offer in-school workshops on a variety of subjects such as air quality and bike maintenance.
