Children missing out on education (CMOE)
We are required by Ofsted to collect data on pupils on reduced timetables in school and/or attending an alternative provision.
This includes children on reduced timetables for more than two weeks as they settle into Reception class.
Here is the guidance on reduced timetables, alternative provisions and remote learning:
- Pupils on reduced timetables and in alternative provisions or remote education
- Guidance on reduced timetables in early years provision
Here is the Alternative educational provision - directory
- CMOE plans must be agreed by the pupil’s parent/s unless they have been directed off site under Section 29a of the Education Act 2022
- Notifications of all pupils from Reception to Year 11 must be made via Gateway as soon as they are put on a CMOE plan (reduced timetable in school, remote learning and/or attendance an alternative provision), if it is to last more than 10 school days
- Plans must be reviewed regularly, at minimum every 6 weeks and submitted via Gateway
- We must also be notified if a pupil’s plan comes to an end. This should also be submitted via Gateway
Risk assessments must be carried out for all pupils on a CMOE plan. The risk assessment must include consideration the impact of the plan on the family (loss of earnings, difficulty and cost of travel etc) and the safety of the pupil’s home should it include remote learning within that environment.
