Services for children

Alternative educational provision

Ealing Council operates two pupil referral units, alongside this two schools also offer alternative provision which other schools can refer to. If a pupil’s needs are unable to be met within these provisions then schools can consider using the approved provider list.

Placements can be made with the listed providers (and with any other provider identified as suitable by a school) by Ealing maintained schools under Section 29A of the Education act 2002 - and by academies in accordance with their Academy Trust’s articles of association.

Ealing continues to offer schools advice and guidance in the selection of alternative provision for young people, through individual contact or through discussion with the school’s behaviour and inclusion service consultant.

If schools identify new providers they consider should be added to the directory or if you have concerns regarding a provider then please contact Brittany Eagle, SEND commissioning and resources manager by email to eagleb@ealing.gov.uk.

Schools must refer any pupils accessing alternative provision to Children missing out on education (CMOE).
