Legal requirements in different types of schools
In all maintained schools RE must be taught according to the locally agreed syllabus.

Ealing agreed syllabus of religious education 2020 - 2025
Ealing Agreed Syllabus 2020-25 ‘Religion and worldviews: Believing, behaving and belonging’ is the legally binding syllabus for the provision of RE in all maintained schools in the borough. The new syllabus can also be adopted by academies in Ealing.
The agreed syllabus was developed by the Ealing SACRE supported by RE professionals in the borough, including primary and secondary teachers of RE and subject leaders. It was agreed at the agreed syllabus conference on 23 July 2020 and ratified at the cabinet meeting on 15 September 2020.
The new syllabus has two documents:

- Teaching units: Agreed syllabus for religious education 2020-25: Religion and worldviews: Believing, behaving, belonging.
