Youth justice service 2024/25
This service is available for Academies and Maintained schools
We are a multi-agency organisation made up of professionals from the police, social services, health, education, probation and youth and connexions.
We supervise children with community sentences, deliver court reports to assist magistrates with sentencing decisions. We provide extensive early intervention to children an alternative to appearing in court.
Experience of partnership working with Ealing schools, relevant teams, and agencies.
Children referred to us take part in:
- Reparative activities where young people make good for the damage, they have caused such as the youth community payback scheme, where children engage in cleaning off or painting over graffiti.
- Victim awareness and cognitive offending behaviour programmes.
We support children who are sentenced to custody to ensure they are fully supported from custody to the community. The YJS has an early intervention turnaround panel, which is a preventative programme that identifies children at risk of offending and provide multi agency support to them and their families to reduce the risk.
We also second a member of the team into alternative provision to work together, sharing information and practise to provide the best opportunity for high risk children.
Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
- Writing and delivering court reports to assist magistrates/judges with sentencing decisions
- Working with the police to assess young people referred for an out of court disposal for minor and/or first time offences. After assessment and a disposal decision we offer a series of interventions aimed at preventing future offending
