Review of 2024-25 scheme

The management committee for the legal insurance scheme for advice on employment matters have reviewed the operation of the scheme for 2024-25.

In summary the review noted:

• 36 schools joined the legal insurance scheme in 2024-25. This covered 2,143 employees
• total receipts for the scheme were £42,860.00. This was added to the scheme surplus of £59,576.36, which was carried forward from 2023/24. Therefore the total fund available to the scheme was £102,436.36
• in the main claims covered legal expenses associated with drawing up settlement agreements and representing schools in employment tribunals or preparation for same. The scheme helped 9 schools this year
• after all claims were paid and accruals taken into account, the scheme was left with a surplus of £64,671.68. The management committee decided not to release the capped element of claims made by schools.
