Road Safety Week 17 - 23 November 2024
12 Nov 2024
Road Safety Week (RSW) is the UK's biggest road safety event, organised by 'Brake', a road safety charity.
The week, from 17 to 23 November, is a great opportunity for schools to engage children and young people in road safety, to help them understand how they can keep themselves and others safe, and raise awareness in the school community.
Encourage active travel
A key part of Ealing Council's transport strategy is to improve road safety that supports the Mayor of London's 'Vision Zero' project. This aims to eliminate deaths and serious injuries from London’s streets by 2041. By encouraging families and staff to shift to 'Active Travel' getting to and from schools, and teaching good road safety skills, together we can help to make streets safer for everyone. You’ll find more information about RSW here: Road Safety Week - Brake
TfL Travel for Life accreditation
Promoting road safety will help schools achieve TfL Travel for Life accreditation in 2025. To do this, sign into your TfL Travel for Life account, select the activity Road Safety Week and then ‘Upload evidence’.
Don’t forget to add your evidence that could include photos, posters, newsletters, risk-assessments and other relevant documents to show how your activity was completed. You can also boost your campaign with additional activities included in this STARS and road safety guidance
Road Safety Week guide
We have put together a Road Safety Week guide which contains a number of easily achievable and effective TfL Travel for Life activities that your school can do.
