Cyber security low level threat

We have been notified by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) that a cyber group has compromised a number of institutions including a machine attributed to Ealing Council, thought to be related to CCTV.

Our current assessment of risk is low, but the root cause has yet to be identified, and the problem fixed and so action is required.

Ealing’s ICT team have ruled out all those services which are managed by ICT including the Corporate Network, Property Services Building CCTV and all Ealing Council ICT provided servers and PC's.

It is now necessary to widen the checks to review all services and properties that use CCTV services which are not known to, or under any support of, the council’s ICT team, including schools.

School are asked to complete a short survey. The survey was sent to headteachers by email from the EGfL web team, with a reminder sent on 6 December. Please complete the survey by 6 December 2025.
