Would you know what to do in the event of emergency situation?

21 Oct 2024

The council's emergency management team is working together with Ealing and Hounslow Community Volunteer Sector to deliver a community resilience project across our borough.

Flooding, fire, heatwaves, power outages are just some of the wide range of emergencies that happen every day across London and further afield.

Helping communities to be prepared to support each other when emergency situations occur is vital. Do you know how emergency situations are managed by blue light and other responders and do you understand what your role is, or might be, when they do happen?

Four free in-person events are taking place at locations, each one covering a different topic.

First of four events

The next community resilience project event will focus on the theme of emergency response and will see presenters from the London Fire Brigade, the London Ambulance Service, the military, the Rapid Relief Team (delivers relief to people across the globe), Scottish and Southern Energy - and more - talk about how they respond to emergencies and how we can work together.

Where and when?

  • Wednesday 6 November, 10:30am to 1pm
  • St John's Parish Centre, Guru Nanak Road, Southall, England, UB2 4NT
  • The Mayor of Ealing Councillor Yvonne Johnson will be present at this event. We will also be serving vegan, vegetarian, and beef burgers.

Why are we doing this?

We know that Ealing's resilience to emergencies is reliant on everyone working together. Stronger connections are crucial to ensuring that emergencies are handled in the best way possible. We want to:

  • enhance collaboration with the community, the council and emergency response organisations in cases of major emergencies
  • create community focused plans to effectively prepare, respond to, and recover from major emergencies
  • ensure that the voices and perspectives of the community are central to local emergency planning

Who would benefit from attending this session?

  • schools' school health and safety leads/business leaders
  • front line council staff
  • council staff who support the Emergency Management Team, particularly if you are on the on-call rota
  • all councillors
  • local community organisations
  • care settings and providers
  • faith sectors
  • businesses
  • resident associations.
