What schools must or should publish online: Music development plan

03 Jun 2024

As part of the plan, the DfE is asking schools to publish a summary of their music development plan on their website before the start of the 2024-25 academic year.

Schools should then update the summary before the start of each new academic year.

DfE guidance

The guidance on what maintained schools and academies must or should publish online has been updated to reflect that a music development plan should be published: “Alongside the content of their music curriculum, all schools are expected to publish information about their music development plan.

A DfE school music development plan: summary template is available to support with this.

The publication of the plan is in the ‘should’ part of the guidance and therefore is not statutory.
