3D printers in schools and colleges

18 Nov 2024

Over recent years there has been an increase in the use of 3D printing in schools and colleges.

Although this is an exciting and innovative new technology, there is evidence that there are health and safety risks associated with the process of heating and extruding plastic filament to form 3D objects.

Schools should refer to the CLEAPSS document: 3D printing in schools and colleges - Managing the risks which is aimed at those who are responsible for purchasing and looking after 3D printing equipment in schools to ensure that employees and pupils are kept safe.
