Opportunity for schools to apply to DfE for funding for small-scale capital investments for expanding 30-hour nursery provisions in schools that currently have the capacity for nursery-age children

We are excited to inform you that the first stage of the government’s initiative to deliver 3,000 nurseries by upgrading unused space in primary schools will commence in October 2024.

Between 17 October and 19 December 2024, state-funded primary-phase schools will be able to apply for up to £150,000 of capital funding to upgrade spare space to create or expand on-site nurseries. The Department for Education (DfE) will oversee the allocation of this funding, which is expected to support the creation of spaces is in response to the increase to 30hrs for eligible children aged from 9mths to 36mths in September 2025

To apply, schools must demonstrate how their proposals will address the needs of their local communities. We encourage you to refer to Ealing Childcare Sufficiency Assessment 2023

We are committed to assisting schools interested in applying for this funding. By collaborating with you and leveraging both the sufficiency data and your in-depth understanding of your communities, we can work together to strengthen your applications.
