This information is for Ealing officers who provide information for EGfL.

It is now a legal requirement to ensure websites and online documents are accessible.

There is a section on OneSpace that explains about accessibility – what sort of problems some of our audience may have, and what we need to do.

Web content

Making accessible content is not hard and can help all users, not just those with disabilities.

Please take a look at the guide on how to make web pages accessible.

You can easily check if your document is accessible – watch this video to show you how to check accessibility

Online documents

As the creator of online documents it will be the services responsibility to make sure they are accessible.

More time and effort is required in making accessible documents, so only add documents to the website where it’s really important that schools have access to it (or there’s a legal requirement for it) and there’s no other way to present the information.

If you really have to add the document, then it needs to be made accessible. Find out how to do this on how to make documents accessible – read the guidance document first, then watch the short how-to videos.

Please note that the report cover templates have been updated to include accessible formatting.

Documents currently online

Please review your documents to identify those:

  • that are no longer required
  • created after 23 September 2018 that should be made accessible.

If you have not yet carried out your review, please do so now.

Questions

Unfortunately, the web team do not have the resource to do this work for you. Ealing Council's web team have kindly made the videos and guides. Please do contact EGfL if you have questions about your content located on the EGfL website.
